About Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition that causes widespread physical pain, persistent exhaustion, and sleep issues. Often described as a deep, consistent ache, it is frequently accompanied by "fibro fog," which makes it hard to focus or remember things.
Scientists believe the condition happens because the nervous system becomes oversensitive, causing the brain to amplify pain signals that others might not feel as intensely.
While there isn't a cure yet, fibromyalgia isn't life-threatening and can be managed with the right approach. Most people find relief through a mix of gentle exercise, stress management, and specific medications to calm the nerve signals.
Because its symptoms often mimic other issues like arthritis, getting a diagnosis usually involves a process of elimination, but once identified, many people successfully learn to navigate and reduce their flare-ups.
