Emergency SMS Text Alert Setup
Text My Contacts is an SMS alert service available with You ID Me's Platinum Plan which notifies your contacts the moment that your emergency ID profile has been accessed.
Here's the SUPER IMPORTANT bit! Please note...
Please remember that SMS Alerts are NOT triggered whilst you are logged into your profile and ARE triggered when you are logged out of your profile.
Why is this so important?
Why is this so important?
- Browser refreshes - manual or auto - WILL trigger SMS alerts to you emergency contacts!
Many browsers refresh automatically, either when a 'window' or 'tab' is re-selected or when a device is reconnected to a network.
It is therefore VITAL to close ALL browser tabs on ANY devices that you have used for accessing your profile once you have finished your checks.
Failure to do this will trigger SMS Alerts to be sent to your emergency contacts the next time the browser/tab/etc. is selected, auto-refreshes or perhaps when the device reconnects to a network.
This 'false negative' may be alarming for your contacts and will deplete your SMS allowance.
- They're aware of the service and what it means
- They know what to do if they receive an alert
We recommend you have a plan in place with emergency contacts so they know exactly what to do.
