As I'm out running in the Rossendale area I often see small groups of children being trained or coached on road cycling safety. I think back to the time when I got into trouble from my own father for riding two miles into town one Sunday afternoon with a friend. He was right to be cross; I did not have an ounce of road safety training. Despite safety training, accidents will of course happen and whilst hopefully the majority of these will be minor, some will inevitably be emergencies. As more and more people reach for their bike following the incredible win of the 2018 tour de France by Welshman Geraint Thomas it's a great time to consider cycle safety. Here I talk about something Halfords won't offer you when you go to buy a bike, helmet and clothing... the Vital ID Sports ID band and in particular how You ID Me upgrades the band to include the winning You ID Me service - see www.you-id.me In short, You ID Me is the UK's leading emergency ID and alert service which can be used by anyone who carries and emergency ID product. And we feel that with UK roads and the volume of traffic thereon, cyclists are without doubt in need of carrying emergency ID. How You ID Me worksA unique 12 digit ID is provided to people carrying emergency ID products (bracelet, wristband, necklace or identity card). In the event of an emergency any first responder can input the unique ID number into the You ID Me portal using a smartphone, tablet or PC to retrieve all the ID carrier's vital information. It's fast and no app is needed to use the system at any point. The real power lies in You ID Me's ability to alert emergency contacts or loved ones that there is an emergency. This is what Lee means when he refers to the Platinum Plan. Learn more about what You ID Me is here: https://www.you-id.me/what-is-you-id-... Please do comment and let us know your own experiences of cycling safety in the UK or about carrying ID when you are out cycling alone or as part of a group. Until next time ^lc. I've always thought about the importance of emergency ID being easily visible. And there is a kind of irony because hi viz is where it all started for Ahead Solutions owner of the You ID Me brand. Back in 2012 I gave notice on my full-time job to start the Ahead Solutions company on the back of a hi-viz invention I had created, which sold well at a the The Cycle Show at the Birmingham NEC. Soon after I began supplying medical ID and eventually created You ID Me, mainly due to having a couple of family members who needed more from their emergency ID products though also partly due to competition. Wrist space s precious 'real estate'. There are all sorts of products and inventions crying out for your wrists, which is perhaps in itself the topic of another post... watches, jewellery, fitbits, sports gadgets, pedometers, charity support bands etc. etc. I know through conversations with first responders and ambulance staff that in an emergency they'll generally check the neck and wrists of the person whom they are treating so almost any medical alert bracelet should be found. However when it comes to wallet cards I think that would benefit from having the ability to stand out somewhat. That's why we've created the highly visible medical ID combo set as an offering to those that want a little more peace of mind. What's good about this hi viz emergency ID is that the set is condition specific. So it's really clear and obvious - at a glance - to any first responder, paramedic or anyone from a medical team looking at either of these medical alert products what the medical condition of the wearer/carrier is. Of course anyone treating or looking after you in an emergency can access all your vital emergency ID, contact and medical information by popping your unique ID number into the You ID Me portal. And, if you are on our Platinum Plan your emergency contacts can be alerted if you have an emergency and your ID bracelet or card is used to access your profile. The listing has only been available for a few weeks and already there's been a great uptake; carriers of our high viz emergency ID cards don't always keep their card in their purse or wallet. Some are wearing on lanyards at work or when they go somewhere new or unfamiliar, so that it would be immediately obvious if the worst was to happen. So, high vis emergency ID. Bright idea or a flash in the pan? What do you think? Please leave a comment or suggestion or your own experience of your own emergency identity product/s being located easily or not. Stay cool in this hot UK weather... winter will be here before we know it and we'll all be grumbling that it is too cold! ^lc Click VIEW DETAILS to see all medical conditions available and please contact us if yours is not listed. We're excited to announce that You ID is now open for business to other UK based vendors of personal ID products. The exciting You ID Me partnership opportunity allows other emergency ID businesses to benefit from the growth and success of You ID Me's emergency ID and alert system by providing free and paid for subscriptions to end users ordering their own ID products. Just as important, the initiative means that there will be an increase in the number of people carrying 'rich' emergency ID, contact and medical information, which can greatly help a first-responder make the right decisions in an emergency situation. This helps ID carriers to go about their lives with a heightened feeling of confidence. Families of emergency ID carriers are positively impacted too... Close relatives and emergency contacts are often comforted knowing for example that in the event of an emergency they can receive an instant alert - straight to their mobile phone with no need for and special app - to let them know that their loved one has a problem. Additional comfort is provided by the fact that the first responder's details may also be shared, allowing family members to make fast and direct contact with the very person looking after their loved one. Interested in the opportunity? If you are a UK vendor or emergency ID or medical ID products , you can learn more about this exciting opportunity by visiting the You ID Me Partnership page in the first instance.
A quick and raw video recorded by Lee in one of the You ID Me workshops this morning following a call from a very happy customer who had purchased a StoMo Expanding emergency medical ID bracelet... Expanding medical alert bracelet featuresThe StoMo expanding medical ID bracelet is available in two colours and three sizes, 17cm, 18cm and 19cm in a black and a silver / chrome, both pictured below. It can be ordered blank for you to engrave or you can select from one of our off the shelf engraved offerings - which includes a range of 'condition specific' engravings. This is a robust medical ID alert bracelet and the fact that it expands means that the 19cm bracelet really is ideal for larger wrist sizes. The links and the main enclosure of this bracelet are highly polished beautifully; it's a great looking bracelet to say that it is a medical identity bracelet! We only took delivery of this line in June and already are looking to restock such has been the demand. Alerts your emergency contactsAs you would expect from any emergency ID bracelet from You ID Me, the StoMo expanding emergency medical ID bracelet provides wearers with all the latest features of You ID Me, namely three valuable services.
