As I'm out running in the Rossendale area I often see small groups of children being trained or coached on road cycling safety. I think back to the time when I got into trouble from my own father for riding  two miles into town one Sunday afternoon with a friend. He was right to be cross; I did not have an ounce of road safety training.

Despite safety training, accidents will of course happen  and whilst hopefully the majority of these will be minor, some will  inevitably be emergencies.
