A new tool that assists those exempt from wearing face coverings when challenged in public has been launched by the You ID Me emergency ID and alert service. The 'Face Mask Exemption Splash' displays a special message on any device to confirm that a member is officially exempt from wearing a face mask / covering in public. Company MD Lee Cunningham said "It helps diffuse uncomfortable situations where people are unfairly challenged - sometimes quite aggressively - for not wearing a face covering whilst they're out and about in public. It works by quickly demonstrating to others that the person is officially exempt from wearing a face covering due to a medical condition. It's compatible with any mobile device - without the need for downloading an app, " "The tool is free to use for our Platinum Plan members who can choose to leave the face mask exemption splash on permanently or use it only when they plan to venture out in public eg. for shopping trips or other outdoor pursuits. A simple toggle switch is all it takes to switch the splash on or off; users just log in, choose their setting. Done." Who can use You ID Me's face mask exemption tool?HMRC have provided good guidance on the law around face covering exemption. In short if you have a physical or mental illness or impairment, or disability or where putting on, wearing or removing a face covering will cause you severe distress you can be exempted.
As a result many members with condition such as asthma, COPD, cystic fibrosis, anxiety as well as hidden disabilities carry one of our combined face mask exemption / medical ID cards. So our new tool can be greatly beneficial for them. The new face mask exemption splash can be used now by You ID Me members on the Platinum Plan. A table comparing You ID Me service plans is here. |
