The new emergency medical ID necklace from You ID Me is a beautiful, highly polished stainless steel pill shaped barrel pendant with military style ball chain. This is a superb choice of medical alert necklace for men or women.
The barrel unscrews to reveal a waterproof label on which is printed with your unique You ID Me reference number. This is the number that triggers alerts to your emergency contacts' mobile phone/s if you are on the Platinum plan.
The label can also be printed with your medical condition to provide an at a glance awareness of your overarching medical condition.
The machining of the pendant is high quality; the twisting action is smooth and effortless... just what's needed in case of emergency. A red staff of life features on the barrel too indicating to any first responder that further emergency details can be found inside.
The ball chain that accompanies this pendant has a ball chain connector and is 21" / 53cm long.

Me and my small team at You ID Me wish each and every one of our customers a very happy new year ahead.
I'm purposely not going to make this message long or fill it with 'ra ra'; there's quite enough of that around. It might just be me but I can't quite bring myself to 'chime' with it at the moment.
I'm writing this at 08:50 on New Years Day and it's clear that across the UK 'the situation' remains very challenging for many of you; our customers and members, with tier 4 restrictions in place in many areas of the country.
However nor will I allow pessimism to mar this New Year wish to you. If hope is anything then it isn't simply 'potential'; it's a forward-thinking force; it's kinetic; movement; energy.
So when I say Happy New Year I sincerely wish for that positive energy for you and for your loved ones and I wish for it to be long-lasting; to be abundant in all areas of your life - your health, your happiness, your relationships, your career, your finances. Let it permeate every area!
Now whilst all that may come across as somewhat philosophical, that's okay. The start of the year is a great time to be philosophical isn't it?
So I'll keep it brief and add three quick thoughts: -
"Hope walks through the fire. Faith leaps over it." - Author unknown.
"This is not a full stop, this is a comma [...]" - Bishop Rose Hudson-Wilkin, Britain's first black female bishop.
And one of my personal favorites that I've 'stolen' from Abraham Lincoln and selfishly adapted to my own personal circumstances many times over the years... You can fill in the last word 'blank ' of President Lincoln's quote below to suit yourself. I'm sure he'd be fine with that! Btw in the original the last word was 'country' which may still be apt.
"The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty. And we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new we must think anew. And act anew. We must disenthrall ourselves. And then we shall save our ___________."
Happy New Year for 2021 and beyond.
Take care and thank you for reading.
A new tool that assists those exempt from wearing face coverings when challenged in public has been launched by the You ID Me emergency ID and alert service.
The 'Face Mask Exemption Splash' displays a special message on any device to confirm that a member is officially exempt from wearing a face mask / covering in public.
Company MD Lee Cunningham said "It helps diffuse uncomfortable situations where people are unfairly challenged - sometimes quite aggressively - for not wearing a face covering whilst they're out and about in public.
It works by quickly demonstrating to others that the person is officially exempt from wearing a face covering due to a medical condition. It's compatible with any mobile device - without the need for downloading an app, "
"The tool is free to use for our Platinum Plan members who can choose to leave the face mask exemption splash on permanently or use it only when they plan to venture out in public eg. for shopping trips or other outdoor pursuits.
A simple toggle switch is all it takes to switch the splash on or off; users just log in, choose their setting. Done."
Who can use You ID Me's face mask exemption tool?
HMRC have provided good guidance on the law around face covering exemption. In short if you have a physical or mental illness or impairment, or disability or where putting on, wearing or removing a face covering will cause you severe distress you can be exempted.
As a result many members with condition such as asthma, COPD, cystic fibrosis, anxiety as well as hidden disabilities carry one of our combined face mask exemption / medical ID cards. So our new tool can be greatly beneficial for them.
The new face mask exemption splash can be used now by You ID Me members on the Platinum Plan. A table comparing You ID Me service plans is here.
In this short video Lee reviews the You ID me sports ID bracelet for runners, cyclists and other lone sportsters...

In this short video which came about by accident really, I explain why I wear one of our premium silicone emergency medical alert bracelets. - despite them only being £9.99 plus shipping.
I also explain how in a real life emergency situation how such a simple bracelet can give paramedics or first responders all the vital ID and information they need to be abe to treat me quickly and effectively - straight to ANY mobile device plus, how the system can alert my wife to let her know I have a problem.
But in addition to this, rather than just say "Hey wife, your husband has a problem..." the system has the capability of sharing the contact details of the first responder so that she in turn can contact them to get the very latest updates on what has happened, my condition, my whereabouts and what's happening next.
You ID Me is the only emergency medical ID and alert service that does this. We think you will agree that in an emergency this can change what happens next for the better.
Thanks for reading and watching the video and, if you fancy one of these silicone bands head on over to: -
Take care. Stay safe.
When a Platinum Plan emergency ID profile is accessed an emergency services number is presented 'behind' a speed dial button on the screen of the device being used to view the profile.
Historically it wasn't possible for users to amend this number.
Members are now able to update the "Emergency Services Number" field within their profile.
This can be useful for those living in other countries or those planning to travel abroad that wish to enter the local emergency services number for the country they are visiting.

Early feedback from a handful of members is that they love the little gesture.
It's no biggie really; it's just a simple and effective way of helping keep our members that little bit safer by allowing them a second form of emergency ID that they can pop in their wallet or purse and forget about.
